Patricio O'Ward - known as Pato by his friends and family - hails from Monterrey, Mexico and currently lives in San Antonio, Texas. His passion of racing began when his grandfather got him a kart. He began going to the track and that's when he fell in love with the sport. As Pato worked his way up the karting ranks, the young gun captured three championship titles in Mexico and over four championships in the U.S. including a title victory at the 2010 SKUSA SuperNats in Las Vegas. O'Ward's latest karting championship titles came in the Stock Moto Junior S5 Class at the Texas Pro Kart Challenge, SKUSA SummerNats and SKUSA SuperNats all in 2012. When he turned 14, he moved to Formula car racing in 2013 joining the Formula LATAM F2000 Series in Mexico, the Pacific F2000 Series in the U.S. and the Formula Renault 1.6 NEC Junior Series in Europe. The following year, the Mexican native captured his first formula car win at the famous Paul Ricard Circuit while competing in the ultra competitive French Formula 4 series. Pato’s goal is to get to IndyCar, and make racing his career. He is currently racing in the Indy Lights series, which is the step right before IndyCar. He will fight for the scholarship that helps him graduate to IndyCar.
